China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS)
May 28 to June 1st, 2013, sees the 2rd China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) show at the CNCC in Beijing.  Hosted by the Chinese Government under the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), together with the Beijing Municipal Government CIFTIS is set to be a key international trading ground for China.  There are 20 support units including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Administration of Customs, State Administration for Industry & Commerce, National Bureau of Statistics and State Administration of Foreign Exchange as the leading departments.  In 2013 the exhibition area expands form 50,000m2 to 70,000m2.   
In 2012 (first CIFTIS show) there were over 1,721 exhibitors and well over 100,000 visitors.  During the 5-day event there were 126 meetings or events and 458 projects signed representing over 60 billion U.S. dollars (A$582.76 billion) worth of contracts.  The organizers expect the 2013 show to grow with the 20,000m2 increases in floor area.  
One of the most important CIFITS activities is the Australian “Theme Day”.  In 2012 CIFTIS invited the countries and regions such as Australia, UK and the African Union to hold their country days during the show.  Australian Theme Day took place on Tuesday, 29 May, 2012 and the events included a networking function with Australian business leaders established in China’s services market, an Australian Services Workshop, a networking lunch with Chinese service sector representatives and a business matching activity led by the CIFTIS organizers.  Austrade participants included Auscham interested member companies from the legal, financial, construction & mining service sectors.  
CIFTIS Background
CIFTIS is the first comprehensive platform specializing in the trade in services around the world.  Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, it will be permanently based in Beijing.  The World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are permanent supporters.  Defined as a state-level, international and comprehensive fair for trade in services, the CIFTIS currently figures as the only comprehensive trading platform in the world covering the 12 sectors of trade in services defined by the WTO, namely:

China National Convention Center (CNCC) is owned and operated by the Beijing North Star Company Limited (BNS).  Based in Beijing and established in 1997 BNS is a state owned enterprise which, together with its subsidiaries, engages in property development, property management, property investment & retail operations in China.  
The company is involved in the development of the commercial areas of the Asian Games and Olympic village in the northern part of Beijing including the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC) and the CNCC.  The CNCC Complex comprises of the following facilities in 530,000 square meters (5.3m square feet) gross floor area:
