The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition Hall of the Second China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held in the morning of May 28th at China National Convention Center (CNCC). Wang Anshun, Mayor of Beijing, announced the opening of the exhibition hall.
CIFTIS is an annual event which is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China and organized by Beijing Municipal Government. Defined as a state-level, international and comprehensive fair for trade in services and figured as a comprehensive trading platform in the world, the fair, initiated in 2012, is the world's only comprehensive trading platform which covers the 12 fields of trade in services defined by the World Trade Organization (WTO). Held from May 28th to June 1st at CNCC, the 2013 CIFTIS aims at boosting the service trade economy as a new engine for value enhancement.
The 2013 CIFTIS continues to adhere to serve merchants, focusing on business talks. There will be totally 148 events, including 1 exhibition hall opening ceremony, 9 global services forum-Beijing Summit, 8 high-level conference, 101 business talks, 20 theme days, 5 contract releases and 4 authoritative information releases.
The first CIFTIS attracted totally 1721 exhibitors and more than 22,000 registered merchants from 82 countries and regions around the world, and a cumulative total of over 100,000 professional visitors participated in the exhibitions and conferences. The total trading contracts are 458 and the volume reached USD $ 60.11 billion, among which the trading volume of international trade in services was USD $ 11.2 billion. The exhibition area reached 70,000 M2, increased by 40%. And there are 26,500 registered guests and delegates, which increased by 9.1%.
As the main venue for CIFTIS, CNCC will serve more than 100 activities. It is anticipated that there will be more than 2,000 exhibitors, 35,000 delegates and over 100,000 visitors this year. The 2nd CIFTIS will use all meeting rooms and exhibition halls of CNCC. In order to meet the requirements of the 2013 CIFTIS, 20,000 M2 temporary halls with the supply of electricity, water, air-conditioner, internet etc. were built up in the north of CNCC, which can hold over 800 exhibitors. To ensure the success of the fair, CNCC established high-profile reception team to carry out detailed deployment for all aspects including catering, security, engineering, network and so on.
